Austin Rogers
Executive Director
Austin is the creator of Rooted Life Adventures. After years of working with outdoor educational programs for young adults all over the world, she saw an increasing number of students suffering from mental health challenges. The need for increased mental health support on program or an “in between program” was clear. RLA was born.
Sharon Laney
Operations Director
Sharon has 30 years of experience in building and launching therapeutic programs for adolescents and young adults; guaranteeing excellence and the highest standards in the industry. A nationally recognized expert, Sharon is an operations powerhouse passionate about giving students the best care.
Christy Brock, LISW-S, CCAT
Mental Health & Wellness Director
Christy’s has been working with students and families as a social worker for almost 20 years. As our clinical support leader at HQ, you’ll first meet when going through our application process. Christy’s insight will ensure the integrity of our program is upheld, and every student accepted is a fit for our group dynamics.
Elise Scribner, LCSW
Field Wellness Director
Elise is an advocate for integrative experiential opportunities for both teens and young adults. She has seen, firsthand, the profound positive impact that comes from combining adventure, time in nature, positive peer group culture, and therapeutic support on mental health and overall wellbeing.
Amalia Gamboa, CSW
Field Instructor
Amalia brings high level outdoor acumen and aptitude for therapeutic engagement with students while in adventure settings like white water rafting or repelling down a waterfall. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is comfortable working with students in either language.
Suzy Kendrick
Marketing Director
Suzy is a master storyteller with over 15 years of experience. This former journalist and TV reporter is an expert at crafting brands that speak to the right people at the right time. Suzy is passionate about mental health and the influence travel can have on opening our minds and exploring our hearts.
